What is Osteopathy / Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)?
-
It is a method of diagnosis and treatment that is performed exclusively with the hands.
-
We osteopaths not only look at the musculoskeletal system, but also at the organs, the nervous system and the body's vascular and respiratory systems. All of these systems are interconnected and can influence each other.
-
We assume that the body normally regulates itself. When you are facing health problems, this process can be impacted. We therefore search the body for the cause of your complaints and aim to restore self-regulation by releasing blockages, tension, adhesions, etc.
Before starting an osteopathic treatment, it is often advisable to get an accompanying conventional medical diagnosis. Findings from previous medical examinations are also helpful. In many cases, osteopathy complements conventional medicine, but does not replace it.
